2 - Update user settings

Your settings do more than personalise the app — they shape how accurate your detections are, what you see across the site, how you appear to others, and how you're kept informed. It's worth setting them up once. Here's what each area does and why it matters.

Profile (display name & photo) — This is how you appear to everyone else in TrailCamHub. Set it so that when you share cameras with others, or ask to be added to someone's network or team, people can recognise and find you. An unset profile makes you hard to identify.

Home country & region — The big one for accuracy. Your default region tells the AI which species to expect and which model to use, so results are relevant to where you actually hunt — a North-American look-alike won't be suggested for an Alpine forest. It also drives local standards: units, date format, and the species offered throughout the app.

Default location — Sets where the map opens when you add a new camera, and provides the location used to geofence the global model. Leave it empty and your browser location is used instead.

Watched species — Choose the species you actually manage on your ground. This does two things: the AI prioritises these species when analysing your photos, so the feedback is more relevant; and it controls which species appear in your dropdowns, sorting and grouping across the site, keeping the interface focused on what matters to you. Star the species most common in your area and they're given extra weight as "most likely."

Notifications — Decide how you're alerted to things worth knowing about — for example, an email when a camera looks misconfigured, or when several photos in a row come back empty, so you can adjust its sensitivity and save storage. Tune the empty-series threshold so you're warned at the right point, not too early or too late.

Your plan — Manage your plan to match how you use TrailCamHub: stay on the free Viewer tier if you only view content others share with you, or move to a Manager subscription for unlimited cameras, team sharing and AI on every photo. You can also pick your billing currency here.

Spending a few minutes on these up front makes everything downstream — detection accuracy, your library, sharing, and alerts — behave the way you expect.
